The Golden Age of Piracy Historical Encampment
FRIDAY, APRIL 10 Noon - 4 pm
The Colonial Swordsmen will be setting up a historical encampment on our front lawn! They will be presenting the Golden Age of Piracy, showing off their weapons of choice (including cutlasses, smallswords, bayonets) and sharing their history from centuries past. Have you ever wondered what it was like to fight on ships or why they wore tricorne hats? Come ask one of the historical educators! When you're done exploring the encampment, come inside to browse the display of pirate books that can be checked out and do the scavenger hunt. Prizes will go to everyone who correctly completes the scavenger hunt!
If you want to really get in the mood, take part in our pirate costume contest, too! We will take photos of each person in costume, print the photos out (with faces blacked out), and vote on them the following week. Prizes will go to the people with the most votes!
