CHILDREN'S Summer Reading Program
June 17-August 9
How it works: For ages birth -5th grade. Please register first! Registration can be completed in person or online. After registering, you will need to either print out your own activity sheet or come in and pick one up. Complete any ten reading challenges, circling the road sign of the completed challenge. Turn in the top portion to receive a free book of your choice. At the bottom of the page, color each sign post for every 15 minutes worth of reading. Once all sign posts are colored, turn in the bottom portion and receive your Pizza Hut coupon. You must return both portions of your activity sheet to be entered into the drawing for prizes. All activity sheets are due by the close of business on Friday, August 9. Prizes will be drawn from the entries received.
Finding Bigfoot: Every week, Henry (our Bigfoot) will hide in a different spot in the Library. Kids will search for Henry, and once found, fill out a form with his/her name, contact information, and where Henry was found. Please note, Henry will NEVER venture into the YA Loft. Completed forms will be entered into a drawing and the selected winner will receive a free book. Henry will hide in a new place every Tuesday and will remain in that spot until the following Monday.
Note: All prizes MUST be picked up in person at the Berrien Springs Community Library. No exceptions.
Lunch and a Chapter: Every Tuesday (June 18, 25, July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30) at 12:00 noon, kids up to fifth grade are invited to bring a sack lunch and listen to a chapter or two from the book The Lemonade War by Jacqueline Davies. Weather permitting, we will be outdoors, so plan ahead and bring either a towel or travel camp chair. Plan on meeting at the community room prior to going outdoors for every session to assess weather conditions. All parents or guardians must stay with children, especially if we are outdoors. Water will be provided. Once the book is finished, any remaining Tuesdays during the time period will be cancelled. Don't forget the sunscreen!
