13 Little Blue Envelopes
Maureen Johnson
This was a really good book. At first I picked it up because it really stood out on the shelf , but I picked it up, read the inside cover, and it looked pretty good. It is about this girl, Ginny, who goes to Europe, following instructions she finds from her aunt in 13 little blue envelopes.
She gets a letter containing a thousand dollars in cash and instructions: get a passport, book a one-way flight to London, then go to an address in New York to pick up a package at a certain restaurant before heading to the airport.
Here are the rules:
#1: you may only bring what fits in your backpack.
#2: you may not bring any guidebooks, phrase books, or any kind of foreign language aid and no journals either.
#3: you can not bring any extra money, credit/debit cards, traveler's checks, etc.
#4: no electonic crutches. this means no laptop, no cell phone, no music and no camera. you can't call home or communicate with people in the US by internet or telephone. postcards and letters are acceptable and encouraged.
(taken from inside cover)
So she does it, she goes on this trip, all because of a letter her aunt sends her. This book is really good, I could not put it down. With twists and turns while Ginny is traveling all over Europe, seeing the sights, meeting lots of people while making friends and enimies and learning a lot on the way. With a surprising and satisfying end I would recommed this book to anyone who loves a good book filled with excitement, mystery, love and surprise.
So what are u waiting for, go check it out, and read it.
